The Western States School of Banking®

Overview and Eligibility

Your best move to stepping up the career ladder is to attend the Western States School of Banking (WSSB). Our unique program, designed specifically for banking professionals, gives you the knowledge and skills you need to advance your career. The WSSB is a unique, two-year banking program affiliated with the New Mexico State University College of Business. Our program is structured around two, eight-day sessions in June of two consecutive years. During each session, you will study current banking practices and learn all aspects of bank management step-by-step from profitability to human resources to technology and legal issues.

GAIN USEFUL, RELEVANT, WORK-FOCUSED  INFORMATION

Nationally recognized industry experts teach the classes and work closely with students. WSSB sessions include:
  • accounting refresher and funds management primer (optional based on experience)
  • bank simulation
  • commercial credit
  • funds management
  • human resources management
  • legal aspects of banking
  • risk management
  • sales, service, and marketing
  • technology management

During the program you will live on campus, attend classes, and work on projects with other professionals in your field. Throughout the year, you will complete correspondence projects that help you apply what you learn to your bank. The curriculum is intensive, but you will also have fun while meeting other bankers and building a lasting professional network.
