In this course, students get a broad view of economics and the connections to banking. Topics covered include: general economic update and trends; capital markets and commercial real estate (CRE) update; interest rate issues and the effects on loan pricing; how the regional and local economies are doing, plus areas of strength and weakness moving forward; and “roundtable” feedback from recent regulatory exams of participating banks.
Richard Hamm is a Private Consultant, Instructor, Speaker and Author for Advantage Consulting & Training in Huntsville, Alabama. His training work includes the top banking industry associations: American Bankers Association (ABA); Risk Management Association (RMA); and Independent Community Bankers Association (ICBA). It also includes regional banking schools: Western States School of Banking; Graduate School of Banking at Colorado; Southwestern Graduate School of Banking; Barret School of Banking Memphis; and Graduate School of Banking Wisconsin. He has taught for numerous state banking and community banking associations as well as for individual banks. The RMA Journal has published over 20 articles by Hamm on various lending topics, and he has served for many years on its Editorial Advisory Board. He has BS and MBA degrees from the University of Alabama.
